How we can help you
We understand that some of your clients will have complex financial planning needs that require bespoke investment management. Our Bespoke Portfolio Service (BPS) brings a tailored approach to investing with our expert team creating a portfolio that meets your client’s individual needs and circumstances.

Our Bespoke Portfolio Services
Bespoke Decumulation Service
For clients looking for a steady income over the long term, this service allocates a portion of the portfolio to meet short-term income needs, while allowing the rest to grow over time.
Short-Term Portfolio
The short-term pot addresses sequencing risk by covering the first seven years of income needs through a blend of cash, structured products, and gilts. These assets are carefully selected and timed to align with the required income levels, working alongside you and cash flow modelling tools.
Long-Term Portfolio
The long-term pot is invested for growth over the medium to long term and consists of a diversified portfolio of assets. These are tailored to align with your client’s highest acceptable risk level with the aim of producing inflation-beating returns. This will ultimately be used to meet longer-term income requirements.
Gilt Portfolio Service
This service is designed for clients looking for a low-risk, capital-preserving investment solution. By focusing on high-quality, short-dated UK government bonds, we work with you to tailor the approach based on your client’s preference for market volatility exposure, while ensuring a predictable income stream. As the gilt market is highly liquid, and offers a choice of different maturities, your client’s capital can be invested to maximise returns and match their different income needs.
Liquid Reserve Portfolio
This portfolio offers you flexibility when allocating part of your client’s portfolio to cash and other low-risk investments for a shorter-term horizon, while still delivering attractive returns.
By investing in high-quality short-term money market instruments and fixed income securities, it aims to generate annualised returns equal to or above the Bank of England Base rate.
This low-risk, diversified portfolio provides a strong alternative to medium-term cash deposits, without the administrative burden and reinvestment risks of fixed-term savings.
Responsible Investment Service
This solution is suited for those clients who want to use their capital to support the transition towards a more sustainable future. It offers two responsible investment strategies:
Advance Strategy: Funds are invested in industries that positively impact the planet
Avoid Strategy: Clients choose which sectors to restrict investments from
We work closely with you and your clients to build a solution aligned with their chosen responsible investment style, all while still achieving their long-term financial goals.

Bespoke Portfolio Service: A personal approach
Not every client is the same. That’s why our Bespoke Portfolio Service is designed for clients who want a portfolio constructed to meet their specific needs and objectives.
Keeping you informed
We understand how important it is for you and your clients to be kept up to date on how their investments are performing. That’s why we’ll send you a portfolio valuation to share with your client every three months, or on request.

Working with you
As an adviser, you will partner with one of our dedicated investment managers. Your manager will craft the optimal portfolio mix, leveraging our centralised investment proposition (CIP) that draws upon the analysis and research expertise of our in-house team.
Annual tax report
As part of the Bespoke Portfolio Service, we’ll produce a tailored ‘tax pack’ for you once a year to assist in the completion of your client’s annual tax return.

Security as standard
Thanks to InvestBM, our secure online portal, you can monitor the progress of your client’s portfolio safely and securely.
The benefit of bespoke
With over 400 investments across 14 sectors on our buy list, our approach to investing is global in scope and outlook.
Collaborating with you, we’ll calibrate investments for your client’s long-term financial objectives, tax considerations, and income requirements. The sustainability objectives of your clients are important to us, and our Bespoke Portfolio Service gives our investment managers the flexibility to construct portfolios which aim to exclude companies that do harm but also include those that are contributing to a more sustainable future.

The Bespoke Portfolio Service difference
Our Bespoke Portfolio Service is built on partnership: we’ll work with you to understand your client’s goals and needs and create an investment portfolio tailored to them. By managing the portfolio, we’ll also reduce your administration workload, giving you more time to focus on the wider aspects of your client’s financial planning.

Your questions answered
What is the application process?
What is the application process?
We try to make the application process as easy as possible. There are typically three stages:
- We hold an initial meeting for you to introduce your client to their dedicated investment management team and to discuss our investment proposal. Once you and the client are satisfied the proposal meets the client’s requirements, the client will be asked to complete an application pack.
- Upon receiving the completed pack, we start the account opening process and send the client a welcome letter. The client’s money will be transferred to Brooks Macdonald either from an existing provider or from a bank account. If the money is coming from an existing provider, we will liaise with them to ensure an efficient transfer.
- Once the transfer is complete, a completion letter will be sent to both you and the client, which includes an access code for our online portal.
