AIM Portfolio Service
Our AIM Portfolio Service provides clients with accelerated Inheritance Tax (IHT) relief through the UK’s Business Property Relief regime. This encourages investment in certain unquoted companies (including some AIM listed companies) by providing exemption from IHT after two years of ownership.
The structure of the Service is straight forward, in that it is simply a portfolio of 25 to 30 shares owned by an individual or couple. This means that capital can be realised (at prevailing market prices) during the life of the portfolio, if required, although this could ultimately also serve to mitigate any accumulated IHT benefits.
Liquidity issues within the AIM market and the fact that this service typically remains fully invested in a single asset class lead us to describe the service as being higher risk in nature.
